Post hole digger on TO 20 lifting to high.

I just purchased a post hole digger for my TO 20 Massie-Harris and it seems to be lifting higher than i think it should be.Seems that when it is raised all the way up the drive shaft on the digger is ready to come apart where the outer shaft slides on the inner shaft(it is a 2 piece shaft).I have the same problem with the 3 pt. rotiller,except that shaft comes apart if raised to high.I made a shaft for the tiller according to instructions on decal on tiller but i couldn't get it to lower all the way without it bottoming out on the shaft.Is there a way to keep the hydraulics from raising to high without affecting the depth?This is very annoying when i have to ride along worrying about the shafts coming apart.Are these tractors made for modern day equipment?

The TO-20 as well as then N's are generally considered to have too high of a ground speed for a rototiller.

Your results may vary.

I assume you mean it's a Ferguson, not a Massey Harris, since you said TO-20. Yes, the tractors should handle modern three point hitch equipment, recognizing that the Ferguson 20 does not have live hydraulics or PTO of course. On the PHD there normally are at least three holes in the main shaft for securing the U-shaped tube which attaches to the lift arms of the tractor. Using the hole furthest from the tractor will make the PHD ride lower. The only other adjustment I can think of would be in the lift lever on the tractor. You can adjust the lift slightly by loosening the four bolts that hold the lever to the tractor and sliding the plate, per the manual. The bolt holes are elongated to allow for this. Hope that helps. Having said all that, a tractor with live lift (PTO doesn't have to be turning for lift to operate) is much safer for using a PHD.

I know what you are talking about on the PHD.Instead of mine having holes,i have a two piece clamp like thingy that has two bolts that holds the U- shaped tube to the tube going out to the auger.Going to try that and see what it does.Thanks. :)

Thanks Phil,but what is a PHD?The holes you mentioned,are they inside the transmission housing?

Also Phil,i have a on the side which looks like it should disengage the PTO.But it won't move forwards or backwards.
