I just had my distributor rebuilt, added a new coil, and a Pertronix ignition system to it. My engine has about 40 hours on it since it was remanufactured. It idles better and and starts in about a quarter turn of the engine. You won't get anymore power out of an electronic ignition. Just more reliable starting and no points to fool with.

I have it on one tractor and conventional points on another. The tractor with electronic ignition had a hard time starting without it. Now the plugs stay cleaner and it starts first time. That and the fact that I never, ever have to set point gap or replace anything is a big plus.
