Top-Link Category 1 to Cat 2 Question

I have a finishing mower that I'm putting on the back of my TED20, only problem is that the Cat 1 top-link I have will not reach. I need an eye-to-eye distance of 32 inches. Does any one know where I can get one of this length (preferably in the UK), or is it possible to "bush" a Cat 2 link to get the eye down in size and will the width of the Cat 2 link fit the rocker link on the back of the tractor?

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks for your comments and suggestions. I have managed to find out that Vapormatic do manufacture a 33" Cat 1 toplink, Holland-Brand have tracked down a Sparex equivalent which has saved me having to face a 10GBP small order penalty from Forge Services.

The problem is apparently a known one with the Wessex mower I have where the bottom links are much further forward than the top-link on the mower necessitating a longer top-link - no problem for a Cat 2, but for the like of us not so handy.

I cant understand why your top link does not fit, unless it is not a tractor top link but a similar item used on other impliments. Is it a genuine ferguson or Mf top link or aftermarket top link. To get yours to fit you could cut the barrel and weld in a spacer to make it longer or buy a top link for a MF 65 or similar. They were longer to clear the 32 inch rear wheels and have interchangable ends. You could put cat 1 ends on both ends.

You might find it easier to cut your existing Cat 1 link in half, and then weld a section of thick steel pipe in the middle to increase length.

Cat 2 links will be too large on width and diameter - and need, er, 'adjustment' with a suitable grinder.

Nearly a yard of top link seems a little excessive to me - you might want to have a look at the geometry of your mower and see if you can change that for a better fit using a more standard top link.
