TO-20 value

I'm not very familiar with Ferguson tractors (have 9n and 2-8ns) but always liked their looks. I now have the opertunity to buy a TO 20 with a hi-lo tran. and a front mounted snow plow. It's been converted to 12v and is missing it's 3pt hitch "parts". It doesn't burn oil (it leaks it) and the sheet metal is good. No brakes. Any advice would be most apprciated. Lugnut

Okay, now tell us how much he wants for it. The steel wheels ain't worth a hoot...unless your a collector of them. I think rear shoes would cost $75...but don't know about the seal for the rear axles that are causing the brakes to be bad. New rear rims are around $100 each...new tires are around $200 each...so theres $700 to spend on it. YOYO...(your on your own.) Keep us informed...Fred OH

I just bought one that runs good with high low tranny.it has a front loader bucket,3 point hitch,good sheet metal ,good tires. I paid 1,600 for it.

Lugnut, these are good tractors, but what I'd be concerned about is without the 3-pt "parts" you can't test the hydraulics very well. If you mean it's just missing the lift arms and their assembly, I'd try to buy it contingent on the lift working well after you get the "parts" and try it out. There might be a reason it doesn't have those parts...! And that could affect the price quite a bit.

Hi Phil, The lift arms are there and chained to the trumperts to enable the hydrolics to raise the blade. There is an 800# weight fastened to the back of the tractor where the stabilizor, draw bar ect. would go. Would you assume that the fact that the plow blade (a very heavy one ) can be raised would indicate that the hydrolics were ok? Odd-note== this tractor is owned by a amish man therefor steel back wheels (never any flats). Lugnut

Roger no flats, LOL. Probably the hydraulics work. Might be some question how long an implement will stay up that is how much leakage there is, but probably they work. If motor is good, no cracks in block and doesn't burn oil, I would try to get it for $1500, and maybe go to $2000 if you have to. If you decide to go to rubber tires, that will be expensive, so even with the two speed that would be my limit. My 2 cents.

The hi-low trans is a major bonus. Without it these are usually too fast in 1st gear for things like rototilling, or arguably, snowblowing.
3 pt hitch parts same as Ford, try Dennis Carpenter. No brakes very common due to real axle seals leaking transmission oil onto brakes. Big job to fix (not hard but man-hours) and probably good bartering point.
