Measurments for a Bumper / Brush Guard TO20

Any one have any measurements or plans for a front bumber for a TO20. I need to build a bumper / brush guard to protect the hood, grill and radioator while running my brush hog.

Well, heres what I did to mine...I took a regular (probably aftermarket) bumper for a Ford tractor made from about 3 to 3.5" formed channel and two pieces of 1" X 2" X 7" steel and drilled two holes in them 5" apart to bolt the bumper on with. This puts the bumper 5" lower than in the original position...and it clears the open hood well. Just had to put longer bolts through the front axle. It looks decent and if I need anything to protect the radiator, I fabricate it and bolt it on with the hitch pin hole in the bumper. Generally speaking...a piece of screen tied to the headlights keeps the trash out of the radiator but...the fan on the 9N Ford tractor still sucked trash in through the bottom. A piece of foam rubber about 4" square and long enough to go across the bottom of the radiator stuffed into the opening completely stopped any trash from getting in. If you have a Ford, it's hood doesn't open and the only way you can clean it is with a water or air hose. Tough to do out in the field. I just went out and looked at the TO-20 and it looks like it will work on it too. The little formed piece that helps latch the hood open will hinder getting it in...but will also help to keep it in...or so it looks. My opinion is...you don't have to put up with the trash in the radiator if you engage your brain enough. One last thought...when you take your hand to clean off the accumulated trash on the screen in front of the radiator...use a glove...it's full of bugs and stickers. Fred OH

I'd be interested in something like that also. Damaged my oil pan pretty bad last summer when running over 2" to 3" diameter Alder Brush in clumps. Lost my oil, but didn't damage the engine. Need something that would protect the pan also. Maybe I was too aggresive with the Bush Hog.

The original Harry Ferguson bumper (optional accessory) is made from 1/2" thick X 3" wide steel. It bolts to the axle on each side, with the front piece curved to match the curve of the hood, and extending about 4" further on each side past the mounting section. Any brush guard must be removable so the hood may pivot for servicing. Some bumpers may not look like what I described. The factory bumper was quite expensive for the times, so many dealers had bumpers made locally at a much lower cost. I'm sure mine is original because I was with Dad when he bought the (now my) tractor in 1953.
