Hah!

If only prices were that good!

A 6V here is around 80 of our nice English Pounds, and a decent 12Ver is around 20. No contest to my way of thinking.

Sorry for delay in posting - water got in the underground phone lines - British Telecom still hasn't learned that water and electricity do not mix well.

Hey guys, we Yanks have to consider that the U.K. hasn't used 6v for much of anything since the mid to late 50s. Simply supply and demand. If LUCAS is still relatively cheap in the U.K. I'd probably recomend a generator and regulator, particularly if you have a tachometer. Good luck, have fun!

Wow thats a rip. 6 volt batteries here are about the same as 12 volt. I guess I would consider a conversion to a 12 volt system if I had to pay that much for a battery.

You're between an rock and a hard place for 6V batteries then. Unless the price of 6V batteries falls dramaticly 12 volts is you only route. Farm supply stores here sell 6V batteries for less that 12V. Perhaps demand keeps production of 6V batteries high enough to keep the price low.
