TEA piston sleav kits question?

On thoes new piston sleave kits do they come ready to install or do they need to be honed to size and also the ring end gaps do they need to be filed

Honing is not supposed to change the diameter of the bore. Honing creates the small cross-hatching that helps mate the rings to the cylindar bore. If you're not sure you can easily look in the sleeve and see if the cross-hatching exists. If not it's easy to do with the right gear.

The piston size is already matched to the sleeve so no honing required. The rings are supposed to be sized right too, but it's a good idea to check anyway just to be safe.

Thanks Jim what are the ring gaps on the 85mm piston ? thinking back I replaced a piston and rod on one of the sleaves there might be extra material on the rings to file to size

Yes I agree with NCTim completely; I was thinking "boring" but we are talking "honing". I have been used to .003" per inch of bore diameter as a rule of thumb for ring gap.
In the big service manual for a TEA20 they are 0.006-0.010" for the 80 mm, and 0.010-0.015" for the 85 mm pistons.

PS the pistons and sleeves are coded with letters - F, G, or H, I think. A piston and sleeve should have the same letter.
