I recently got a '53 to-30. She's a little loose, a little rusty, a little hard to start, and a lot of fun. I'd like to get her back to good serviceable "working" condition, but I don't have a clue where to start (engine,tranny,hydralics... 1st tractor). Any help/info greatly appreciated here in mid-Missouri.

Also looking for a servicable disc so she feels useful and not so lonely.

Hi JD

First of all I suggest that you buy an operator's
manual for your tractor and read it entirely and
carefuly.

These little machines are dangerous if you do'nt know how to use them safely.

You can buy a manual from this site and you will
contribute (I have no connection with).

I have a '53 TO30 and I love it. I have two discs that I would be willing to sell. One is a Ferguson-Sherman A-BO Drag disc and the other is a Ferguson 7A-BO Drag disc. The Ferguson hooks to the 3-pt. hitch and you can adjust the angle of the discs by raising or lowering the 3-point system. I have used the Ferguson several times and it works great! I have 2 other discs and don't need these two. Let me know. I might be able to send you a picture via e-mail.

My new experience is just beginning also. I recenlty purchased a TO-30. I don't know even the year model. It has a serial # TO- 113450.The tracor is in pretty good shape. Every thing on it functions well and the Continental motor purr's like a kitten. If there is anybody out there that can give me any imformationm on the the tractor, it would be appreciated. I bouth the tractor at a sheriff's sale and so don't have a title, just a bilol of sale.

Ralph, on the left side of this page under serial numbers look for your number range and you will find the year model..etc
The 30 is a great little tractor you will love it.
You can also do a search here on this site on subjects pretaining to your tractor...there tons of inf. here....

Jd....First advice buy a manual you will need it..second I would solve my hard starting problems. I would convert to electronic ing. and 12 volt and be done with it, I promose you you will not regret 12 and ele. ing.
. Then just have a little fun and repair other things as you need to
unless you want to do a full restortation.

JD, With those initials, how come you have a Ferguson! Seriously, the first investment you need to make is to get yourself an operators manual, a shop manual and a parts manual for the TO-30. If you're a novice, don't get an IT manual. Get the reproduction Ferguson Manuals. There is a lot of info and the parts manuals have a lot of expoded view of the various systems. After deciding on what needs to be repaired first, you can read the shop manual and decde whether it's within your capabilities to do. Welcome to the club and Good Luck!

Maybe this will help. Buy a good pressure washer. $895. A motor overhaul $2,000. rebuild hyd lift system $1,500. New brakes,seals, retainers, beerings, also replace beerings and races, throughout the transmission, and differential. $2,000. A paint job. $400. plus. The lift arms and steering apparatis, $800. There ain't no easy run, or cheap way out, so spend it now and deprive the undertaker. alvinnms

Gosh, don't paint such a rosy picture. I've spent less than a thousand dollars on all the work I've done on my two Fergusons. And I've got a great pressure washer for less than $250.

The last comment is above a price that most people can contend with.I bought a TO-35 last year and having lots of fun with her.There's alot of ways to cut cost,look at what different people has done and ask alot of advice people will help.You do not need to spent a fotune to have a very nice tractor.
