I bought a TO-35 for 2500.00 plus a really good bushhog. It has live power and seconddery cluch,no power steering, but a real good runner, just needs paint. Is it a deluxe model or just a plain little tractor.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. I just paid $3200 for about the same tractor but with good paint, and included tire chains and a 6' back blade.

if it has tractometer, oil gauge, temp gauge, amp gauge and two stage clutch it is a deluxe. early to-35's gave no indication via the ser. no. whether it was a deluxe or not.

Everything depends on condition, of tractor and bush hog. But it sounds on the surface that you got a very good deal. Good used 5 ft. bush hogs in my neck of the woods can bring $400+. The 35 Deluxe normally sells for about $3,000 or maybe a little more if in decent running condition.

I just purchased a TO-35 and it has all the gauges you said would be on a Deluxe Model. How do I know if it has a two stage clutch? It has a Continental Engine...is this enough power to operate a 3 point-hitch 6 foot finish mower? Also, how do I know the year of manufacture...it's serial # is TO-35 162519? Any info appreciated.

According to your serial number it is a 1955 model. Look under research and info on right sid eof this page.

The clutch is two stage if you can press it down half-way to stop the tractor and still have PTO and hydraulics working. Pressing fully stops tractor/PTO/hydraulics. The TO35 has 33 hp and should do fine with a 6' finish mower. I pulled a 5' brush hog through some pretty tall (3' - 6') brush this past fall without any problems.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the deluxe models had spin out wheel rims and multipower. Horse traders stick deluxe decals on the others, to make an easy sale. Trade secrets. alvinnms

Could you please comment a little more on your answer? I don't really see any connection between your reply and the original question. Sounds to me like he does have a Deluxe. I'm not an expert and would really like to know.

The multi-power transmission was not available on the TO-35. It was available on the MF 35. Adjustable rear wheels were an option on both the TO-35 Deluxe and the TO-35 Special.
