TO-20 or TO-30?

My neighbor just got a nice looking Harris-Ferguson. It does not have a data plate on the engine, and the plate on the sterring column is painted over. Casting numbers are (left block): 7129A600; right transmission, HF TO 7006, and differential, TO 4024-A. Is there a quick way to tell if this is a TO-20 or TO-30? He needs to get the manuals for it. Tnx!

Do yourself a favor. Get some paint stripper, or lacquer thinner and some .004 steel wool and rub down the I.D. plate. Now you'll know for sure, and have an ID for future use. Good luck, have fun!!!

It's a 30, based on the engine number, but most of the manuals cover both tractors anyway, so the question is sorta moot as far as ordering a manual is concerned. Tell your friend to remove the paint from the plate on the dash, and use the serial number there and go to the link in the left column on this page titled "serial numbers" and he will find the year of his tractor.

By the engine casting number you should have a TO-30 I think. This has to be the most common type question on this board. It was the first I know I asked!
