Here's a question for the gang - given a choice, which motor -- the one in a TO (continental?) or the english one in a TEA? Wouldn't parts be a bit harder to get here in the staes for the TEA? oops sort of two questions there....

I have both and you're right, parts are easier to get for the Detroit made TO. The TEA is a good strong engine, though. If it's in good shape there's no reason to pass up a TEA. Bareco has a good distribution network here.

Which tractor would you prefer to drive considering both tractors in equal overall condition?

I think the TEA has more power. That's just an assumption on my part from using both types. If they're both in good running condition I'd pick the one with a two-stage transmission. I find mine invaluable for pulling stumps and moving large rocks into lsndscape structures. You can move real slow. Also if you have to bush hog heavy brush, the tractor moves slow so the bush hogger gets a chance to chew everything up pretty well.
