TEA20 Boiling Petrol in Tank

Good-day,
After removing thermostat(it was in pieces), blocking off the bypass tube and running the grey on super petrol, all my overheating water problems and stopping problems are over(I think).
Now after about an hour when I remove the screw top I notice the petrol bubbling and fuming!
Other than me stopping smoking, got any ideas?

Good-day,
Yes you clever lot, it was the timing. Put the screw driver in the flywheel hole and moved the distrubitor a wee bit(well a mechanic mate of mine did) and at last can run the grey for over an hour, and tank still just warm, and at last can have a smoke again when I drive.
May not buy a thermostat as it's always hot down here, and when it is cold better things to do than trot round in a grey.

also check timing. if tofar retarded it will really heat up exhaust manifold and heat rises to tank.

I also would suspect the timing. Maybe you got around it overheating your coolant by removing your thermostat - you shouldn't have to do that really.
I had the timing too far retarded on one of mine and in the dark, could see the exhaust manifold glowing (with the tractor just sitting idling). Also if you do replace your thermostat later definitely unblock your bypass hose.

It's the old Ferguson pressurized gas tank, which I think was an option, in case gravity feed didn't work in your area, haha! Just kidding. Sometimes this happens when you've worked the tractor for a long time. Doesn't hurt anything but you can put an insulating blanket or material between the tank and the engine to keep this from happening.

I looked around the tank for any other tubes going into it, and couldn't see any, so think it is not a pressurised one. The tank is hot, so will wrap it up in a thermal blanket, and stuff in some insulation fluff.
Tks for your advice(want to be able to smoke aagin while I'm driving)
