I've done this. I used the oil filter head from a Triumph, and the spin-on adapter that fits it. The Triumph head is made by Pulorator rather than Tecalemit (sp?) but bolts right on.
The difference is that the long bolt that holds the canister in place has its head at the bottom of the canister on the Triumph setup i.e. the threaded part is in the oil filter head. The spin-on adapter has a fitting that threads into the head, where the bolt normally threads in.
Of course this requires sourcing a Triumph oil filter head, but then the spin-on adapters are easy to find.
I have heard that there are also spin-on adapters for the normal oil filter heads, but I have not investigated further since I happened to have a spare Triumph one.

Check with The Roadster Factory...T.R.F...Not sure of their web site, but I'm reasonably sure they have one for a TR4. The one on my race car was a remote unit, but I do seem to recall one that adapts as mentioned, by changing the bolt configutation. TRF people are generally very helpful and friendly. Good luck, and Merry Christmas.

With a little backyard ingenuity, I was able to make one for my Fergy. Unfortunately, for the life of me, I can't remember how I did it. I do recall getting a spare head from the scrapyard to modify. My original is tucked neatly in the Fergy drawer of the tool chest.
