My 1955 TO35 That I recently
bought has a Tractormeter but no cable. I assume the cable attaches to the back of the generator. I will need a new meter and cable and the attachment to the generator. Where can I purchase the required attachment for the rear of the generator? Can find both meter and cable but the rest has been a problem. Assuming I am reading correctly where the cable attaches.

You're right! the tach cable attaches to the rear of the generator. The generator has a gear set(tach drive) in a housing bolted to the rear of the armature shaft by means of a threaded hole. Rebuilt generators are sold several places at around $135 or more, MF dealers, Waltstractors, Davistractor, and most important here on YT by sponsors of this great place for us to share knowledge. If you check, perhaps you'll fine a used generator with the tach drive in a salvage yard. I think all MF 4 cyl engines equipted with a generator+tach drive used the same one. If unsuccessful, a good rebuild shop can drill n tap a new armature shaft when rebuilding your old generator. The cost though, will be nearly the same as buying a rebuilt one online. I just experienced this with my 1968 MF135. good luck!
