When installing radius rods onto the transmission case,should a film of grease or attached dry on the ball ends? My service manual is blank on this install

The official factory line on this was NO grease here or on the front axle pivot or on the 3 point linkage balls, it attracts grit and grit wears..BUT its your tractor.

ralph i also dilled mine to put in grease fittings.not only does it lube but you can push out dirt that you cant if just lube during assembly

I believe that my TO-30 manual says not to lube the ball ends of the radus arms. There is a shim pack on the connector that allows you to remove the shims as the ball end wears. Greasing provides a mechanism to attract dirt which then makes the grease/dirt combination a type of "lapping compound" that will accelerate the wear. Hope this helps.

Ralph, I have tried to find any mention of lubricating the ball joint on radius rods several times, but could not find ant mention of this any where. What I do is remove the ball end cap and drill it and install a zerk fitting there so it can be greased it not hard to do. I consider it a wear point( I have seen some caps espically worn) after installing the grease fittings on several tractors i have restored I have monitored them for wear over a period of several years and have found it does help.

The socket should not be greased for reasons already assigned. The front axle pivot should not be lubricated for the same reason.(it is covered in the owners manual)
