TED Identification

I have just recently purchased a grey fergy petrol/ kerosene a TED so i am
told. The identification plate near the steering colum is missing and i was
wondering if there is any other way or No's to identify this tractor. It has
some numbers stamped along side of the steering colum, but i,m to believe
that this was an assembly No after it was imported. It has a lever on the
right hand side for engaging into low range.
We used to have a TEA 20 on the farm but this TED is new to me. I am looking
for contacts to help me with the identification. It also has an alluminium
bonnet

I have a very similar problem, except the tin worm has had a go at my plate with three out of five digits vaguely discernable. If you need to know the date of manufacture there are some numbers next to the power take-off lever which give the day/month/year of manufacture. I have also found some numbers on my engine block behind the carburetor, but these do not seem to tie in with the traditional "S" based numbers oft quoted in the workshop manuals.

The lever you mention on the right hand side sounds like a Howard reduction box for a Rotovator. The numbers on the column won't mean anything. only the plate will do, but let us have them all the same. I wonder why people have to keep takeing the plates off, they must be into something shady I think. Aluminium bonnets were not unusual at one time. There will be a number stamped into the engine block between the ignition coil and the oil filler, we may get some idea from that, also there is usually some numbers cast into the centre axle housing just forward of the round inspection covers. Is it a 6v 0r a 12v electrical system? The TED is mainly identical to the TEA only real exception is it runs on kerosene when hot. Tractor is the same, engine is same except for cylinder head and manifold and just a few other small differences.
