I have a 1950 TO-20 that was converted to 12 volts using a 12 volt generator. The generator has two terminals. Is there an easy way to measure the output to see if it is charging my battery? My tractor does have a amp guage, but it is broken. All information will be greatly appreciated.

use a meter measure voltage across your battery terminals when the tractor is off it shoould read about 12.4 volts. Then measure the voltage asross the terminals while the tractor is running it should be in the 13-14 volt range if it is charging.

get your tractor running, then disconnect either battery terminal if the tractor keeps running the generator is putting out.
