Just changed transmission fluid, put in 24 litres
should it be check when hot or cold to see if full, nothing showing on dipp stick when cold. Thanks

This is one of those instances where hot or cold is immaterial, as the oil doesn't get that hot. The oil level should read full anyway. How does 6 U.S. gallons(owners manual requirement) compare? I think about 4.5 litres equals one U.S. gallon, which is the fill capacity of the hyd,trans,diff, common resivoir.

thank you we got it , took awhile before it showed on the dipstick,24 litres filled it, don,t know why it took so long before it started to show on the dipstick (about10 min.),but once it did it came up to the full mark.

Yes it can take quite a while for it to level out it fills the gearbox nearly full then runs through the backplate quite slowly, this was done on purpose to stop the oil moving backwards and forwards as the tractor operates on hills, in severe cases it could leave the gearbox without oil unless it was like that. As long as you know its empty to start with you can fill it with the correct amount and leave it to level out it will be ok
