As a recent tractor enthusiast, I am looking at a tractor with serial number TEA 133988. It apparently has a new radiator and new block. Can anyone tell me the age, number produced and where they were built, and an approximate value for a TEA in good condition? How does it differ from a 8N or T-20? Comments would be appreciated.

TEA 133988 = TEA-20-80, Manufactured by Standard Motors UK in 1950. TE-20(1946-1948) had a Z-120 Continental engine instead of the 80 mm cylinder bore manufactured by Standard. TE means Tractors built in England with Continental engine; after 1947, 20 model used Standard engine. TO-20 was built in Detroit and a Z120 Continental engine and TO means Tractor overseas. TE, TEA and TO-20 are very similar and are Ford 2N improved version; Ford 8N is also a Ford 2N improved version, by Ford of course. Ford 8N has position control hydraulic -original, Ferguson doesn't. Ferguson have overhead valves, Ford's has flat head and valves in block. Ford 8N second gear has a weakness, not the Ferguson; Ford 8N has a too fast reverse speed not the Ferguson; generally Ford 8N has an unsurpassed parts availability, at least in america. An improved version of the TEA-2080, the TEA-2085(85 mm bore) after serial# 172598, in 1951; Detroit launched the TO-30 in 1951 using Z-129 Continental engine.

Everything Grant says about the Ferguson TEA is correct.....Just one thing tho..there is no such thing as a T20...its either TE20 or TO20 and then the variations of both models in engines. Plus you can have a position control fitted to a TEA20 if you require it and its not expensive either and its easy to fit.
