Splitting my TO30

I have to split my tractor on account that I can't pull the PTO shaft out. Must be twisted inside.
I can block up the middle, but how to move the 2 ends away from each other is the question.
Anybody out there have any ideas. Do I make a rolling support? Or do I make a support that I can shimmy out of the way? to make things more interesting, I also have a loader/ bucket, in the way.

I hate to show my ignorance, but just what does 'splitting' mean?

I figure your all talking about splitting something apart here, but shat?

I am refering to splitting the tractor into two pieces. Right under the seat, there is a seam that is held together with bolts. The theory is to pull the two pieces apart, to expose the end of the pto shaft. I say theory, because I have not done it yet. but soon

Before you undertake a major job try the simpler, easier things first. Years ago I twisted the PTO shaft between the pump and tranny. I removed the top casting(below seat) after draining the oil and discovered why the shaft would not simply slide out. I then took my tractor to a welding shop where they cut the shaft at the front of the pump, filed/ground it smooth and removed both pieces. I took my tractor home, removed the pump, and washed all metal filings/grindings out prior to installing a new shaft. You may not be so lucky, but I hope so, splitting the tractor is work and then you still must cut the shaft where it is twisted. Then again, you may discover another reason why the shaft refused to slide out that is easy to remedy.

Paul,
I split my '54 TO-30 several times. I used a set of jackstands and a piece of channel iron with a piece of 2x4(against the pan) to support the engine/front axle on, a couple of "sized to fit" pieces of 2x4 to hold the engine upright about the front axle pivot pin, and a common trolley floor jack/2x4 under the transmission housing. It was really easy!

Professional way is a rolling trolley on rails. Its normal to support the back and trolley goes under front. Trolley jack is simpler option but is best on a concrete floor. Before you take out bellhousing bolts make sure you have weged front axle either side of engine to stop engine pivoting about axle pin. If you are splitting it with a loader on it may be easier to block up front end and roll back bit away from front.

I pulled shaft on my FE35 a couple of weekends ago to fix the pump and got PTO out by putting half of an old shaft on to it and bashing the shaft yoke with a big hammer to draw the shaft backwards.
