I have a 1952 Ferguson TO-30, and have recently noticed that when I start the engine it runs pretty rough, sputtering and skipping a lot. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem? A few observations / facts:- Last week it ran out of gas and I had to switch to the reserve. I then put about 5 gallons of gas back in the tank (from a local no-name gas station), but it took several attempts to start the tractor afterwards. - When I start the tractor the amp guage goes to zero, then suddenly spikes for a few seconds and then slowly comes back to zero (or slightly above zero). When the engine is sputtering the amp guage will move to the right somewhat. - The tractor has been converted to 12V If anyone has any idea what the problem might be please respond as I am not yet a seasoned tractor mechanic. This is a great tractor, has always started right up, and run very well. I've only owned it for a few months, and it was completely restored and tuned up when I bought it. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike -
