TO SERIAL NUMBER

I own a "Ferguson TO-30" model tractor. I have looked at several internet sights and they all say that the serial numbers started at 60,001. However the serial number on mine is TO-176.

Does anyone know the history behind this low serial number?

The serial number is located on a plate just above the steering column. Is that where you got this number?

The number you gave earlier was it stamped in the plate forward of the steering wheel or was it cast into some metal part?

First are you sure its a TO30? what engine is fitted in it because thats the deciding factor. if its a Continental Z120 its a TO20 if it has a Z129 its a TO30, check engine serial plate with a low number like that it should be a TO20 the numbers continued when the TO20 finished last one produced according to the list is #6000
and your tractor with that number is shown as being manufactured in 1948. The only other explanation is that you are only able to see part of the serial number. But no TE30 serial numbers began with 176 as they finished at #140,000 Hope you find out ok.
