My TO20 has a pin and bracket for a sway bar on the right side of the tractor only. It appears that it was made and shipped this way. Are two sway bars necessary for a 4 ft bushog? Are sway bars needed at all? What are the opinions out there?

Mike, in my experiance the to-20's came with only 1 bracket and pin for 1 sway bar, I have seen a few with two....I recommend that you use two...it's pretty rough on the tractor with all the swaying going on with what ever implement you have on it usually the heavier stuff like a harrow, mower and box blade are the worse on the lift arms and sway bars...2 sway bars also helps the implement stay inline with th tractor ( try harrowing rough ground or mowing a ditch without any sway bars and you'll see why)why take a chance on breaking stuff when for a few dollars more you can make it twice as tuff and rigid.....
have a good day.....

I ran my TO-20 for a couple of years with one sway arm and a 5'bushog. I think it was awfully rough on the hydraulic arms. For about $35 you can add another sway arm. The whole system works better and itis easier on the old girl.

If you use one it will be fine when load is pulling on it but will tend to bend it with a heavy load in compression. Whether its a problem depends on how heavy the implement is and how much swaying its doing. Theoretically, if its needs it, it really should have two fitted. But you can't always get two to fit at the same time especially with non-ferguson implements.
