POSTION OR HEIGHT CONTROL FOR THE FERGUSON SYSTEM

There is no doubt that Harry Ferguson was a genious. He revolutionized the farming industry with his three point hitch and draft sensing hydraulic system but as we all know it took Ford men to adapt his system so that it had position control in the 8N Ford. But that is another story!

Then I came up with the idea for a retrofit gadget that can give the same position or heitht control for the Ferguson system lift as the 8N and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Did you know that Ferguson originally experimented with a two point hitch and then a three point hitch that had the two lift arms on top and the one on the bottom with the draft sensing in the bottom of the differential directly connected to the pump control valve. He then turned it all upside down and the three point hitch that we all know today on all modern tractors is what he perfected.

If you where as well up with fergy history as you think then you would no that the Ferguson engineers actually invented the bolt on position control for a Ferguson implement. See if anyone out there can guess which one?

To my knowledge the only Ferguson implement to come with position control was the Ferguson Earth mover. A bit like a bull dozer blade at the front which was raised and lowered by the rear lift arms. The Blade was manufactured by "Bomfords" and was called the "Sapper". Pictures of this device can be found in the Hundays book the Ferguson experiance and the position control device is clearly shown.

Yes they did but it was for more then one implement. The haymower and the ferguson rear crane.
