TO-30 rear axle seals

Have a TO-30 with the rear axles leaking. (onto the brakes! - adds a little excitement to the ride...) I saw an old post on TO-20 seals. Is there any difference with the 30? I'm trying to decide between tackling it myself, and taking it to the local tractor whiz... Advice?

I have a TEA-20 and I too had leaking seals. I found that it was not too hard to pull out the rear axels, and then I cut some gaskets from brown paper shopping bags. Put the axels back in and no more leaks.

Hey Doug! Another Ferguson pilot told me he had installed aftermarket seals that slid over the axle ends and did not require pulling the axles.
He was happy with the results. Sorry I don't know any more than that. Keep us posted -- my TE-20 also uses the same brake-lube system you have, and I need to stop it. I always travel with an implement that I can drop like an anchor if I want to stop! Good luck! Tex

Had a TO 30 myself with the same problem. Took the axles out myself. Paid a shop to press the bearings out and install the new seals. First one took 25 ton to move, second 30 ton.

Yes it is real exciting to have binary brakes. That was 25 years ago and I still remeber sliding down the hills.

There is an after market replacement seal called the SURE SEAL available in Canada from Radford Farm equipment .Pull the axle install right over the existing seal and casting re-installthe axle shaft.Then you'll probably go through a gallon of brake clean

Central farm equipment Ontario Canada sells a aftermarket seal that slips over the axle shaft. Works real slick !
