While mowing last week the lift went down and has yet to respond...we changed the oil and topped off hoping low oil was the problem...not. The lift control feels normal....any ideas or suggestions or "what to watch for" before we begin surgery with the hammers and channel-locks. I assume we will begin by draining and removeing the side plates, then top assembly...good thinking or what?
Thanx, good forum, wdhiii

I also had problems with my TO-20 not lifting. After taking the whole system apart, I found a crack on the side chamber on the pump. Strojney Implement help me out with the parts and answered lots of questions. Go to the tractor shed on this board and then to parts & supplies and you will find him there. Good people for the Ferguson!
Good luck!

Sounds like your relief valve gave out, I don't know if you can change it through the access plates or not, I know it can be done on the 35. Just in case you forgot to check, make sure your pto is in gear. Good Luck

Update on the TO-20 lift, as we took off the side cover plates and removed the pump via the bottom square plate area (impresive casing, and one corner was broke from bolt hole to bolt hole, which I guess was done today...we'll try to weld and use lots of goop during reassembly). Anyhow, we found a couple of pins and a spring laying on the big round nut. One pin goes to one side of the control yoke (point B if you find the discussion on hydraulics at one of the Ferguson sites); the other pin necks down real small and is broken....I suspect it is the connecting pin for and part of the control spool (which seems to be missing altogether and may be out in the weeds with the old oil we drained out). There was also a small golf-tee looking piece that could belong to the spring (compression type bout 1.5 inch x 3/8" or so). Sofar nothing has been difficult or complicated, but there are broken and OK pieces that came apart for some reason. I'm goin to search the archives for more info and look to buy at least a control spool. That's today, thanks, wdhiii in TN
