I have a 1953 TO30. My pto lever and the shaft it is attached to appear to be loose and wobbly. The pin holding it to the shaft appears OK - only a slight bit of play. Do I have to go inside to fix the problem?

Brent...The lever and pin are probably ok the hole in the shaft usually wears the most. Tap the roll pin out and look at it,if its not worn or enlongated the problem is inside...more than likey the pto fork. I've seen many worn in lever pin hole....quick fix if your careful is to braze up hole and redrill...I have a piece of metal 8"x8" with a hole in the middle to slide over shaft to help disperse heat while I braze it..
hope this helps....

My TO 20 PTO lever is held by a rivet. I took the cover off and cleaned the shaft with lacquer thinner . I used Loctite stud and bearing mount to set mine. Has not come loose in several years.

I have the exact opposite. My Lever is stuck!!!! If forced back a little the PTO spins but stops as soon as i let go. I will probably have to take the cover off and have a look. Does anything need to be noted when doing this????
Its all happened since I changed the PTO seal!!!!

You probably just havnt got the lever located in the fork correctly. Slacken the bolts off round the plate and try to move the lever to where the lever should be when its out of gear, you should feel it drop in place, then just tighten all the screws up again on the plate. It can be a bit confusing first time it happens to you.
