My 48 te20 needs a grill. what will work tea 20 to20 to30, what years.My side skirts are steel. I have been told it's a 3 piece one of the parts places sells a 2 piece some say the to is a 1 piece. WHAT WILL WORK?

Larry, try this site, click on the Tractor panels button, then 'MF' (Yes, I know we don't have MFs, but anyway) and the TE20 grilles and front section for your bonnet/hood are near the top of the list - expensive, but nice.

You are right, the TO series had a different bonnet construction to the TE series, which was steel, and in more than three sections.

Great site,at this point money is no object,only thing i can't find.A large corporation here in the states(tractor supply co.)offers a grill for a tef-20 will this work?If i my be soo bold as to ask for yours and John's e-mail(if john reads this)You guys seem to be the most knowlegable,not to affend anyone else,then i can ask you direct. orded parts yesterday,starting to rebuild.

In theory a TEF grille should fit - but it is worth asking the people who made it. If they made it to fit a P3 conversion type TEF I would be cautious - a straight Ferguson TEF should be OK though. If your supplier won't tell you, email the link I sent you to check - they might respond, and they will certainly ship to you.

As far as my email address goes, I don't really like dishing it out - one of the reasons this forum is so valuable is that we can all share knowledge, and acquire information before we need it, if you see what I mean.

If we all go off-line and chat, then the good people who set this up will be disappointed and the forum will go into decline :(

Also, the engineering company I work for is in the process of being closed down, and my email will die in the next couple of weeks when I leave. That only leaves my home email - and that is sacred stuff :)

Finally, once we close, I will have almost no time to frequent this forum, or any other, as I will be training for a career other than engineering.

Sorry about the job james. And your right about sharing imfo,I read about every post tryng to learn anything i can. Anyway on to the good news,tommrow i drive 4.5 hrs to look at a te 20 with all the used parts i need(wu-who).Now if i can get Bareco to give me a quote I can start reassembly. I have complied a list of parts supplires,wondering where would be a good place to post,and possibly rate them?

I understand that the original TE20 hood dog legs(side pieces) were aluminum. Mine were. If you have a hood on a TE20 that has steel dog legs, then it probably has been worked on before. I had to totally redo the dog legs and grill on my TE20. I purchased the grill and steel dog legs on ebay. Then I had a talented friend make me the piece below the grill. It turned out well, but is not original. The TO20 grill and hood are a one-piece welded unit, but the TE20 consists of at least 7 pieces counting the hood.

As I understand it - and I could be wrong here . . . . . .

During the post WWII period when steel was in short supply, TE bonnets were made from aluminium, later when industry had caught up a bit, the TE bonnets were all steel.

If you have an all steel bonnet, it just means it is a later model than the all aluminium version.

In general it is not a good idea to mix aluminium and steel panels, you will get electrolytic corrosion setting in where the two different metals are in contact with each other, ugly and messy. I don't think Harry F would have allowed mixing of Al and Fe to happen.

If anyone can confirm the above history on Al and Fe bonnets/hoods, I'd be grateful.

James, I'm sure you'll be missed, come back soon, but just to keep the "pot boiling" I think you may be thinking of the original 1939 Ford/Ferguson 9N of which the first 700 or so tractors had cast aluminium bonnets.

You are probably right, Ali, it does sound more like a Dorf fix than a Ferguson fix, heh, heh, heh.

I will still get the odd moment to lurk and post, but it just won't be as regular as it has been.

I need grille parts for for 2 TO35's. (1) upper & (2) lower. I am restoring both and the current parts are too far gone to fix.

I seem to remember from looking at grill pieces on EBay the TEA is different than a TO grill. The grill is one piece on my TO 20's not counting the side skirts. What could be made to work , I don't know.
