Aboout 2-3 weeks ago I posted a msg. regarding the retaining clamp on my TO-20 distributor breaking around where the bolt goes through it. I have since replaced the part and moved on, and after several hours of mowing the new part broke in the same place as the old one, could this be because I didnt have the clamp far enough down on the shaft causing stress from the bolt, or could it be something more serious.
Also last year I was having problems with aftermarket (NAPA) rotors rubbing on the inside of the distributor cap leaving brass shavings on the dust cap, after replacing with AGCO parts I didnt have the problem anymore has anyone else experiences this problem with aftermarkets.

Okay after removing the old reatainer it came off in two pieces, after a more careful view I noticed that it was bent which I did see before I put it on though I just though it was made that way. I have since bought a new one installed it and finished mowing my grass, but I am still curious about the rotor rubbing on the cap.

Hi Clint
I never heard of anybody breaking the clamp on the distributor. But the after market caps seem to fit loose when put on. The agco does not have play in the ring where it seats, just went through this with my To-20 ser#8. Scott
