Unusual tricks with your TOxx

While responding to a questioner on this forum I told him the Fergi's had "Hayed, plowed, drilled, mowed and some things I dare not even think about". Got me to wondering. Have any of you done anything with you TOxx that is not in the norm. What did you do, how did you do it and why? Maybe unusual modifications and how did they work out would also be of interest.

As for me, I'm still trying to figger out the usual stuff. And make the usual repairs (no mods).

I live on the edge of town. Right next to our machinery shed, is a Hooters Restaraunt. You should see the look on the faces of their customers, when I go rolling past on the Ferguson, on my way to the gas station. It's worth the price of owning it, just for that reason.

i have used my to20 to pull t-posts out of the ground. i wrap a short lengh of chain around the post and the drawbar and lift them out of the ground. the posts come out unbent and no strain on the ol' back.

I did something with a TO-20, that was not normal when I was a kid. We would pull loads of hay or oats in the fields and when the wagon was empty we would race out in the field. I would stand on the right foot rest with my left foot, hang on to the steering wheel with my left hand, put my right foot on the radius rod while going wide open throttle. I would then reach forward and push the govenor lever forward and that baby would really go. I would be hanging on for dear life with the fingers on my right hand less than an inch from the whirling fan. I think that this might have been the reason that the keepers came out of the valves a few times and the piston hit the valve. :o) My dad didn't think that it was funny. By the way, the Fergy still survives as I bought it from my brother about five years ago. I renewed most of it and use it mowing, plowing snow and a lot of landscaping.

I have a '50 TO-20 I use for all the usual mowing/plowing/scraping tasks but I also use it to spray about 75 fruit trees. I have a 25 gal poly tank on a 3pt skid that connects to a roller pump I have belt driven off the PTO shaft with a pulley from a lawn mower and a bungee for belt tension. The tank has a pressure bypass into the tank with an agitator nozzle on the return. From there, it goes to a manual valve by the 3pt lift lever. From the valve it feeds a Stihl backpack leaf blower with a sprayer nozzle adaptor I have mounted on a angle iron frame behind the seat so I don't have to wear it. I like the idea of having direct control over the amount and direction of the spray and use the Ultra Low Volume IPM approach in my pest management. Kind of an old school approach to a the new methods of thinking.

Had to rebuild alot of fence. I would tie the barbwire to the front of the tractor and pull the wire untill the engine started to pull down. Then I would leave the tractor in gear and shut the engine off. I used a jack to set the wire to the right hight and a wire stretcher to finish tightening the wire. This was on about 1000 of wire.

I use old Fergie to haul my neibours & their 9N Fords out of the snow & mud as the like to think they can out do old Fergie They sure hate to call me .Ken
