Thermostate temp to open

have a TO35 what is the right thermostat temp for this to open the one that is in now is 180 not opening test thermostatnand its ok also carburetor is worn out what is better new or get a overhall kit ? gregg

I've seen thermostats for 160 F and 180 F. I just moved and my shop manual is not unpacked so I don't know what the spec is. Sorry.
How do you know your caburetor is "worn out"? The Marvel-Schbeler Carb is really simple and easy to rebuild. A kit is less than $40 and new floats, if they are needed, are about $15. A rebuilt carb is about $160 exchange and a new carb is about $220 exchange. I'd try the rebuild kit. It's usuallly only a dirty carb or a problem with the needle valve/float setting. Hope this helps.
