I found another TO-30 sitting?

I've always found an answer here before, so here goes another one. I'm located in Southern Illinois. Last fall I gave $3,500 for a 1951 Ferguson TO-30. Heck of a deal I thought for a tractor is good shape. It came with a 2 bottom plow, old pond scoop, disc, woods blade and a bush hog. I just love it. Today I ran across a TO-30, not sure what year, but it has the Z129 motor. I'm going back to get the serial # and come here to run it. Didn't have anything to write down the number with. It is in rough shape. It's at my wifes grandmothers. It runs but is not used but about once a year. I asked what she wanted for it and she asked me what it was worth. Question is I don't really know. It's going to take some work, Rusted up bad, leaking oil and fuel. Rear tires looked useable, front tires are shot. Any thoughts on a fair dollar amount to offer her. I'd like the tractor to keep as a spare parts tractor or possibly to fix up later on. Thanks again in advance for your thoughts.

I like James' answer. I will say one in decent shape with decent tires, engine and hydraulics good, probably sells in the $2500 range in my area. So just add up what needs to be done and subtract it out, and that's one way to find a reasonable price. Sheet metal rust is not a big problem unless it goes thru & causes functional problems like where the hood hinges at the bottom, etc. Leaking gas is easy to fix. Leaking oil depends on where it is. How is the compression? How are the hydraulics? Front tires are about $50 each. Hope that helps.

It is worth as much as your conscience tells you.
