TEA 2085 tph

On the lower arms of the three point hitch there is a bracket that holds the pin that the arm hooks onto.
It has one nut at the back of it. How does that bracket come off?? I have an oil leak there and I think there is a gasket behind it which needs replacing.

You cannot take that bracket off :(

You have to remove the trumpet housing from the axle, and then undo (or do up) a nut inside the diff casing that holds the lift pin safely in position.

Two styles of lift pin were fitted - the early type was a parallel variety, the later type had a tapered fit into the casing. later type pins are available, early type are not, but a good machining shop should be able to make you some more.

Either your nut is working loose inside the diff casing (bad idea) or there is oil seeping past. Leaving the pin loose will only make the hole it fits into oval - also a bad idea. It is an awkward, heavy job, but if you plough or do similar heavy work using the 3pt you should repair the lift pins - think safety!!

You need to remove the trumpet housing to get at it. You can leave the brake drum, rear wing and the half-shaft in-place although it does make it a little heavier to handle.Just disconnect the brake rod and remove the nuts round the axle housing.When you reassemble make sure the gasket is in good condition or you will have to pull it apart again.

If you are triple jointed, or know a friendly octopus, maybe - but I would think 'No' is the simplest answer.

The problem is that the differential and half shaft will do their best to get in the way, prevent you from seeing what you are doing, and generally be a nuisance.
