Where do I start

Here is the situation, Since coming out of storage this spring my to 35 has been hard to start. I thought either the battery had gone bad or the wiring had a short or needed a tune-up. I have had this tractor for two years, last year it started and ran fine. Last weekend I replaced points, condenser, & plugs. than I replaced the wiring which was a mess w/multiple wires spliced together. Now it doen't even turn over. This tractor only has a kew switch, no starter button.
1:Coil lead to "Ing." terminal on key switch.
2:Lead from "L" terminal of Regulator to"B" terminal of switch.
3:Lead from Nuetral switch to "ST" middle terminal on key switch.
4:Acc.. terminal not used. no lights
5:Black lead from Nuetral switch to Top Small terminal on Solenoid.
6:Positive battery cable to top lg. terminal on solenoid.
7: Bottom Lg. Terminal to starter.
8: Gernerator Hooked "F"terminal to "F"terminal on regulator.
9:"A" Terminal hooked to terminal on back ground.
No readings between Bat. & Ing. terminals on switch. with key turned on. Have tried taping the ends of the nuetral switch together & still no readings @ switch. Yes battery is hooked up and has been testedn good by an auto store. These are new wires, key switch, & solenoid. Sorry for long message & yes I have looked at the archives. Any suggestions. Apprecitate it.

Terry - see my response to your questions below in your last thread - I've been out of contact for a few days - I think it is either a solenoid failure, or your neutral switch - the description in the thread below should help - but remember what Ray said about ensuring the tractor is in neutral (or disconnect the starter at the solenoid before playing, as I suggested).

I appreciate all of the suggestions. I knew with patience I would find a stupid mistake. It was I did not hook up the amp meter because it did not work after it was hooked up, she would turn over. But it seemed low in charge so I had the charger on 2 amp trickle charge and after a couple hours when I check the generato was to hot to touch and gave off smoke. I figure the volt regulator was failed to begin with, so I purchased a new one. When the weather cools I will give that a try. Thanks again.

Hi Terry -

There should be a lead from the top large terminal on the solenoid (Pos battery cable end) to the key/starter switch in the original configuration. Gets power to the switch, and then the power goes wherever needed.

I didn't see that lead on your list - perhaps I missed it.
