Tried to retrieve numbers off side of tractor but unable to. The one plate with the patents has a "To-817..." then the numbers fade out. The tractor has 4 cyc. Can anyone identify?

look on the side of the engine. If the casting says Z120 it's a model 20. if it says Z129 its a to30. Also the to30 engine has a horizontal oil filter can just to the rear of the carburetor.

Thanks for the info. However now wish to find out the year. Any help. The plate on the body says "TO-817" .... then fades out.

In your reply to Dennis you didn't say whether you had a 20 or 30. If your SN had four didgets it would be a 1949 TO20... if it had 5 didgets it would be a 1950 TO20....

I have a T0-20 with a plate that identifies TO-817..... the rest of the numbers have been worn off. Can any one identify the year?

Hi Steve Y. Is the black background paint still on your SN ID plate and still in nice shape? If it is it is important to preserve that origional paint as it increases the value of your tractor should you ever decide to Restore it for Show. Or has your SN plate been painted over? If it is don't use anything sharp to scrape it off. I want to restore a 1948 TE20 and there is so many layers of paint over the SN plate I can't see the SN. it puts me in quite a quandary.... If I use Paint remover It will sure remove the black background... If I scrape it it will no doubt scratch the plate... So if anybody out there have any Ideas I would sure appericate them....

try a heat gun and us a plastic bondo spreader to peel off the paint. that should do it.
