My neighbor wonders if his TEA tractor a 20-80 or a 20-85 (without removing the head to measure the bore). IMHO, from the serial number it is a 20-80 but the owner believes he owns a 20-85. Is there a way to identify correctly these 2 Standard engine without dismantling ?

After sn 172598 (on the plate behind the steering wheel) you have a TEA 20-85

My 2 cents worth. Hope this helps.

Hi

i think it was the 2085 that was the first fergies with the air filter going thru the dash, i have a 2080, and it has only the the filter under the hood.

Well 85mm engines were mostly all 12volt over here in UK they were introduced just prior to serial 200,001, if its 12v system (I think it should be same over in US) then its an 85mm. If the water pump is fixed to cylinder block its an 80mm if the pump is fixed to cylinder head its 85mm (thats if my memory is serving me well today)and as the previous emailer from Norway said if the air intake in on the dash its an 85mm. If you still cant work it out let me know.

There's always one . . . . mine is a pre 200,001 (182266) and has an 85mm engine, and is 6V (or was before I converted it).

The water pump is an 85mm type.

As far as I can tell, its the original engine, the serial number on the engine matches the original (1951) buff registration document.

Yes there were some 85mm 6v produced but how many no one seems to know, but I know they were quite common were we are, whether most went overseas or not I dont know, but a lot of the tractors in US at that time were 6v they were like that for a long time after we changed over to 12v.
