I have a 1954 tea 20, I am unable to set my hydraulics at a desired height, if I try to set my blade so that it is not digging to much it will not stay there it continues to drop. It lifts fine and stays up, it does however have a jerking motion while up. What do I need to do or check, I have changed the oil and cleaned all of the sludge out, I do have mineral oil in the hydraulics. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Unless you have a special device like the Zane Thang or Fergy Positioner, you will not have position control, meaning your lift will be all the way up or all the way down, great for plowing, but not for a blade or bush hog. Someone else gave you the link for the Zane Thang. Here is the link for the Fergy Positioner. I have one of each on two different TO-30s, and both work just fine, and the prices are comparable. Link

This is why it jumps, the top link keeps hitting the relief valve just barely enough to turn things off but not enough to keep it there. Make sure the spring is free but not loose. If it's tight and you can't move it around with your hand or it's very loose and seems to have a lot of play you need to adjust your top link.

If it's operating properly it should push the relief valve and essentially "turn off" the hydraulics. This actually just diverts the oil flow and you don't want to leave it in this position long term. It doesn't hurt to let it hit top and stay there for short periods of time, just don't drive back to the house from the back forty with it pegged.

If your top link looks to be adjusted correctly, look at your lever adjustment. You may be able to adjust the level control by reposition the lever control. Your manual tells you exactly how to this.

Loosen the bolts on the plate and follow the instructions. I hope this helps, it's a lot easier than waiting 3 weeks for your penetrating oil to unstick the top link.

Thanks for all the info, I did not know there was not any height control, I will probably go with the Zane Thing as it is in my part of the world, where might I find some pictures of this devise?

The TE20 will not hold the linkage in one position like you require it to in its standard form, you will need that Zane Thang positioner control attachment to do that. There is basically nothing wrong with your hydraulics from what you say, there is a possibility that you may have a leak on it internally causing the bobbing up and down or it could just be adjustment of the control spring on the top link.
