can somebody help my to-35 will lock in reverse the only way to get it out is to pull and force back into a forward gear whats wrong

I never took the top of the gearshift assy. off...I just unscrewed the oil filler and went in from there...takes about 5 minutes. Sometimes you have to rock the tractor back and forth (shoulder against the rear wheel) to take any pressure off of gear teeth...so it will slide easily. To keep it from doing this in the future, shift gears slower... especially when the oil in the transmission is hot...(operating temperature) L8R....Fred OH

Probably this - easy fix in 10 minutes - it happens on my TE once in a while, too.

Sometimes the selector on the end of the gear lever jumps out of the selector rails, so you end up stuck in one gear, and selecting another gear just locks up the gearbox.

To cure this remove the gear lever, and look for the selector shaft that is out of line with the others - just put the end of the gear lever into that, and bolt it all back up again.

Oh, and when you test your fix, do it from the driver's seat with no-one else around to get run over if it is still in gear!!!!!
