Why Harry Ferguson?

One thing that puzzles me is why this board is titled Harry Ferguson. I know about Harry Ferguson, the man, but the tractors were always marketed and badged as "Ferguson" and so how come the board isn't just titled "Ferguson" like the boards for other makes. Why is Ford board not called "Henry Ford". Is there a deliberate reason for this inconsitency?

A pedantic point? Yes. It probably is. Just wondered.

The manufacturers label on my tractor says "Harry Ferguson" so the tractor was at least for some time marketed and sold under the full name.

Hello! It is as Phil said... mostly to distinguish this forum from the Massey Ferguson forum. There is still some confusion between the two... On the main forum menu there is a little explanation below each forum title, hopefully that helps the first-time visitor to figure out which forum is correct for their tractor.

If you would take the time to investigate what you just said, you'd probably feel foolish. Look at the name plate on these tractors, see who's name is on them. Read a little history.

Dan, I think you misunderstood the question. David and I are both familiar with Harry Ferguson and the related history. David was merely asking about the name for this board ... if Ford, why not Ferguson; if Harry Ferguson, why not Henry Ford, etc. The question is really one for Kim, the webmaster. I have four Fergusons, all with good nameplates which I have read, among others. I admit to not being very smart, but, no, I don't feel particularly foolish....

I think Dan meant to reply to the original question posed by David. It is sometimes frustrating when people forget who they are replying to. Folks, make sure you reply to the question, not someone elses reply. I always use the back button on my browser to go back to the original question before reading the next reply instead of following the links. Less confusing.
