..could someone please try to explain, in very simple terms, how to repolerize the generator and voltage regulator.

Also, how would you charge a battery that comes out of a positive ground tractor? Thanks again.

Search archives for polarizing technique, especially in the N Board. It has been discussed numerous times there. You charge a battery out of positive ground tractor same as one out of negative ground tractor. Positive wire from charger goes to positive on battery and negative wire from charger to negative on battery. A slow charge is better than fast charge. Be patient.

I just had to repolarize my TO30. I found (after owning her for a year) that the ground had been set on negative. After switching the wires around correctly and puting on a new ammeter I had no charging going on.

Okay to repolarize take off the large field lead on the generator and start your tractor. With it running jump from the negative battery terminal to the now not connected field post very quickly, you will probably see a spark. That's it. I checked for charging right away and had it. Now reinstall the field wire and your done.

Good luck.
