When repainting, should Hi-Temp paint be used on all engine related components such as block, head, valve cover, oil pan etc, should a primer be used prior? If so where can such paint be found or mixed? I am planning on using original Ferguson dark metallic green paint for everything but the tin, fuel and electrical items. Also with regard to paint, what formulation will give the "best" results lacquer, enamel, acrylic enamel etc.?

Hi Jim... No, you do not need to use Hi-heat paint except on the manifold and exhaust pipe should you choose to paint them. I have a question for you. There were two diferent dashes used on the TO35's The common one was flat and up close to the gas lever. The other style was lower and there was a lot more room under the gas lever. I prefer the lower one. At the Ferguson Show last summer in Freport, Illinois. we were lucky enough to have them both setting side by side. What is your serial number? I have a rare red and grey TO35 Deluxe, SN# 204600 and its dash is up close to the steering wheel. All the F40's I have seen are up close also. Have you ever seen a Cream and Green TO35? Or a Cream and Bronze? There is a nice cream and Green one up near St Louis. The Gray and Green is the nicest one.

Clarence: Thanks for the prompt response. I was not aware of the two dash situation. Are you sure that they were both original, mabe a little mix 'n match has occurred; but I'm just not sure. The dash on mine is original and lies approximately 5-6 inches below the steering wheel. My original owners manual shows the exhaust system silver from the manifold back on the cover and wherever shown in "color" (the book was printed primarily B/W). My tractor appears to have been originally grey on the "tin" and metallic green on the "castings." TO-35's produced domesticly from 1954 through 1957 were grey/green, in 1958 as the merger with Massey becme a reality, the colors were changed to grey/red, 35's produced in England were grey/gold, F-40's were beige/flint metallic grey. Your serial number suggests that your tractor is indeed a TO-35 Deluxe and was built in 1960. My serial number is TO35 168376.
