TO-30 Loss of Power

I was mowing and everything was running great. Suddenly the TO-30 lost power and quit. I got it restarted and limped home. I checked all the plugs which are mostly black, but are clear and firing. I cleaned the carb and did not find any dirt or blockage. The thing runs fine at idle but acts like it is staving for fuel. I replaced the fuel line and checked the flow and everything is fine. I am ready I guess for a carb rebuild kit. Any suggestions??

I would also check the governor linkage could be binding or these have a ball type governor and after awhile the balls wear flat spots in them causing it to stick resulting in no power.

I'd suggest you check points and timing before you tear into the carb. It may be the carb, but electrical can mask a problem and make it look like a carb problem when it isn't. Also, I'd check the filters in the gas line, especially the one at the top of sediment bowl inside the tank. If your gas is low and using reserve it may be partially blocked. Just two thoughts.

I had a similar problem with a old farmall the float in the carb had a small hole which allowed it to take on gas and kept the float down so it was getting to much. Just a thought Shane
