Hi, my pto shaft is wobbly and i guess needs new bearings. Can anyone tell me how hard they are to replace, and what size i need ? Thanks.

The NAPA part # on the seal is 16189, and the bearing # is 6206-J....As I recall, the same bearing for both front and back. The job can probably be done without a bearing press.

UPDATE:

I cleaned the area and now i can see part of the problem. The PTO is not very wobbly, there is a plastic bearing holder out of place, and all the bearings fell to the bottom, but they are all there. When they are spread out it has little wobble. The ball bearings are plainly visible, and dont look too damaged. How do i fix this ?

Drain the oil from the diff/hyd/transmission area(3 plugs), remove 4 bolts holding the PTO bearing housing and pull the shaft from the tractor. Visit a MF dealership for a new bearing and seal. The bearing is pressed on the PTO shaft, the MF dealer can perform this. While there, buy 6 gallons of 80/90W straight mineral oil if the drained oil is dirty. Reverse the operation for installation.

You need to fit a new bearing and oil seal, dismantle it and take the bearing and seal to your bearing supplier, they should match them without difficulty.

I already sent a reply earlier to this but it hasnt appeared so it must have got lost in cyberspace.
