what is the difference between a tea20 and a te20. i just got a old ferguson and was told its a tea20 . i have no idea what i have the serial plate is gone. how can i id what what tractor i have.thanks for any and all help .

TE20 was the model of all grey Ferguson tractors, when they started fitting different engines they changed the numbering to denote which engine was fitted...TEA was fitted with a Standard Motors engine, the original TE20 had a Continental Motors engine. I find the quickest way to tell the Continental from the Standard engine is the oil filler, on the Continental it is up front on the timing cover l/h side, while on the Standard engine its on the rear l/h side above the starter motor. Hope all this helps you decide which one you have.

should have Zenith carb with 24T2 stamped on it also oil filter should be in a canister on left side of engine and be tilted slightly from horizontal. On the engine block by the coil mount bracket there should be an engine serial number stamped into the block this is if it is a TEA 20 the engine would likely be a Standard engine built in Coventry England

And a TE20 has an engine made by Continental, which will have Z120 somewhere on the block. A fast way to tell is by looking at the coil - if it's mmounted vertically, you have a TEA20, if horizontally, a TE20.
