Tractometer TO35 with 12V conversion

I recently purchased a TO35 that has been converted to 12 volts and does not have the tracometer. Is there anyway (inexpensive) to make a tractometer work with a 12volt system or is there an alternative that will fit in the tractometer panel opening?

My '35' had a 12 volt system when I bought it. Tractometer runs off 12 volt generator. I thought this was original, guess I was wrong.

I believe starting in 1955 12 volt was the norm.

From memory I thought the tractormeter on a 35 was mechanically driven off a small gearbox on the back of the dynamo. If your dynamo has been replaced by an alternator, then you no longer have that option.

It should be possible to purchase a 12V dynamo, plus the gearbox, and flexible drive shaft to connect it to the back of the meter. You will also then need to reconnect the control box for the dynamo charging circuit.

I haven't heard of any aftermarket meter that can use the alternator AC frequency to work as a tractormeter - nice idea though . . . . .
