Were TO-35's ever painted anythin other than grey and dark green? My 1955 TO-35 sheet metal is a pale orange (faded) and if it is a repaint it was a very good job. Also, I have seen cream colored 35's in books that look very sharp. My cast iron is dark green. Thanks

Daniel,

TO-35s were gray/metallic green from December '54 through spring/early summer of 1956 when they were changed to beige/metallic green (on a few demos) but the bulk of them were then painted beige/flint gray until December of '57 (SN 176341) when they became red/flint gray.

Daniel, Look on page 2, 6 messages down from top at a message titled"57 TO 35" From Gregg dated 4/13/03. I provided a response with serial #'s, years of production and colors used those years. This will answer your question.

i"m right in the middle of doing my 55 to-35. Have taken every piece apart and cleaned. Was able to find original colors under a after market red and gray paint over. Was definetly green chassis, radiator cowling,seat bracket,three point ,oil breather,battery holder. Gray gas tank,hood grill, fenders,and instrument panel, Seat was also gray. rims in front were gray with green hub. Should be done with mine in a couple weeks. Put new cluch and ring geaar in. Redid the head, starter and even replacedthe lower link studs below the axles. Hope this helps. Ted

This question comes up a lot; check down a few posts from yours for a recent one. Also, try "Paint Codes" in the menu bar to the left. And another good source of info can be found by doing a seach of the archives.

I have fenders from a red TO35 that are faded to a nice orange, but George is about right. Don't know much about the MF 40, but they had cream sheet metal at least one year. Have fun.

I think '55'&'56' 35's were grey sheet metal with green casting. After that they were Massey red sheet metal with Massey silver grey casting. These were the TO's. The English tractors are a whole nother ballgame.
