what is the difference between a TO-35 and a TO-35 deluxe? Is there a ser. number located some where else on the tractor other than the dash plate? My plate reads: model TO-35, ser.# 188460 MASSEY-HARRIS-FERGUSON INC.

HI Gary... You have recieved some very good solid information on your TO35. I have a very nice TO 35 Deluxe SN# 204600.

I am seeking information about the dash on your tractor. There were two different ones used... One was quite common and the other, a much nicer one in my opinion, was cut lower with a lot more room under the steering wheel and gas lever. I have the two different ones shown in two different parts books. I have seen three tractors with this dash.

Would you and everyone reading this check their tractors and let me know who all have them... From the hood they slope down a couple of inches down towards your lap and the same from the steering wheel towards your knees. The common dash is flat and up close to the steering wheel like the latter F40's, MH50's and MF65's. Gary; I recently purchased a TO-35 ser #176755 and according to the description in my owner's manual, I figured I had a Deluxe model. The Deluxe is said to have a 3-position PTO, foam float seat, 4 gage dash panel, and a dual clutch. Power steering is an option . My tractor has all of the obvious stuff but when I disassembled it last week to do a clutch job, I found that it has a single clutch as equipped in the Special model. Also, since my tractor has been painted yellow, it was not until I had it all apart that I discovered red paint in areas not not usually accessable when repainting. The red color isn't what I've read to be the color used for my serial #- supposedly green. So, now I don't really know what I've got! Good luck with yours. Roger

As far as I can tell, the Deluxe came with a double clutch, ground speed pto, and lights, but, my 55(s/n 140963) does not have the lights, it might have something to do with my front end loader though. And from what I can find, Deluxe didn't appear on the dash plate.

I have recently purchased a 1956 TO-35 Deluxe, and have learned that I am the 3rd owner. The tractor was handed down from the original owner to his son and now to me. They were kind enough to give me the original owners manual that indicates that the only difference (as substantial as it may be) is in the clutch system as Mr. MacDonald has indicated. I qoute the manual, "the Standard Model Tractor incorporates a conventional-type clutch while the Deluxe Tractor features a dual clutch arrangement which allows the hydraulic pump and power take off shaft to operate independently from tractor forward motion." Also, according to the manual, all lighting components were available as "accessory" components, whether Deluxe or not. I can send copy if needed.
