I have a Ferguson tractor the serial # is TO-102339, and on the hood after the name Ferguson is the number 30, so I think it's a T0-30. I am wondering what are the best hydraulic and engine oils to be using.

You'll find this information in the owners manual along all the information needed to maintain your tractor. Specified engine oils are: Non-detergent SAE 30W above 50*F, SAE 20W below 50*F, SAE 10W below 10*F. Crankcase capacity is 5 U.S. quarts. Specified Trans/Diff/Hyd oil is SAE 80/90W straight mineral oil; capacity is 6 U.S. gallons. All 3 drain plugs must be removed to remove and drain each area even though there is only 1 common filling plug. Many disagree with me, however, my TO30 still runs as good as the day Dad bought it in 1953. I feel the H. Ferguson design engineers know more than I so I follow the owners manual for normal maintence, just as Dad did.

What? I have never heard of a manual calling for non-detergent oil in a 1953 tractor. If they weer using a detergent oil in it prior, continue to use it. Go with 10W-30 or 15W-40.

I will only use non-detergent oil to lubricate roller chains. Seen too many "crudy" motors.

For the hydraulic system a mineral oil without graphite or sulphur additives is recommended. If you use a gear oil it should be SAE 90 wt gl1 spec or if you use an engine oil in the hydraulic system it shoud be an SAE 50 wt mineral oil. The hydraulics take 22.5 litres 5 gallons.
