i recently went to walmart department store to look at there oil, they have in 5 gallon buckets 80/90 weight gear oil the sticker on the shelf said mineral oil but i didn't see it on the bucket anywhere, they also had tractor hydraulic/transmission oil on this bucket it said for farm equipment where a common pump or a single fluid is used in the transmission, hydraulics, differential, final drives, power take off, power steering, and wet brakes,it also has a cross reference and that says is similar to massey ferguson M-1135 M-1141 M-1129a this oil i just described did not say minereal oil or give a weight for it but i think this is the one i could use in my TO30 for the rear hydraulics/transmission/differential. there was another bucket that said sae90 GL1 gear lubricant. now my question can any of these be used? not one of them said GL1 straight mineral oil hydraulic/transmission oil all on the same bucket. also do i use plain hydraulic fluid for the loader on my tractor or ATF ? thanks for any help you can give me with all of this. how much do you pay for the M1103 oil (5gal)? the one i thought i could use from walmart is $23.77 (5 gal)

Jeff: Use the GL-1 only and thats a good price also. I finally found some GL-1 at a Texaco distributor and it cost $43 for 5 gallons. Make sure you remove the three drain plugs to get all the old gear lube out. Clean the plugs, check up inside the holes for any sludge or metal, then refill. It will take some time, so don't be in a hurry.

GL-1 90 wt. is correct. The $24 price is about right for 5 gallons.

Regarding the price of M1103, I paid $19.26 per container (2 1/2 gal.). This was just a couple of months ago from my local M-F dealer here in South Jersey.

GL1 is the designation for oil with no additives. Some additives in oils will react with the brass/bronze bearings in these old tractors. Search the back posts and you'll find all the answers to your questions, it's been researched throughly.
