I have a tractor...Harry Ferguson Serial #TEA 270725 and it's the work horse that makes my farm work.....blow snow..make gardens...pulls the bush hog.
I am maintaining it the best I can...But I need detailed info re. maintenance and tune up.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have a TEA20 here in Canada. It took me a while just to find out what it was, since some idiot took off the serial number plate, but some great people at this site helped me out. Go back a few pages and you'll see.

Look at your engine number, which will be stamped on the left side of the block, between the coil and the oil filler. Mine is S97847. The S stands for Standard, so that's how you know if it's a Standard engine. Apparently all TEA20 tractors came with the Standard motor. So this following info is for the Standard.

*Ignition Timing* Is at TDC. There is a little hole under the starter motor, on the forward-facing part of the block. Sometimes there's a little plug, or the hole is filled with dirt and you have to look very hard for it, like I did. There's a corresponding hole in the flywheel. You can take the starter out to see it, or turn over the motor very slowly by hand a poke a little screwdriver through. Careful! You don't want to snap the screwdriver. When the screwdriver is through the hole in the block and the flywheel, you can set the timing.

*Tuning* APPARENTLY, and I say that since I'm not absolutely positive 100% about this yet, these are the specs. I've used them and they work well.

Valve clearance .010" exhaust, .012" inlet, points gap .015", spark plug .030-.032".

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does, and if you learn anything else!

I just answered that on Page 1! Nevermind, I'm in the Jordan area of the Niagara Peninsula. E-mail me if you like.

TEA surely means British built, with Standard engine and possibly Lucas electrics. You should be able to get an operator's manual from a British supplier - try Fergiland for example :

I found some info at www.n-news.com they have lots of photocopied pamphlets I got an owners manual which has lots of info on oil changes and other service for the carb etc not much on the Standard Engine though. That is one reason I started a Ferguson Tractor club at yahoo. You may want to visit or join. Here are some other sources you may want to check out www.ebay.com has had Ferguson Factory manuals to bid on they seem to be pretty complete. Also a fellow maned Elmer has offered Service manuals email him at [email protected] also you can check out some of the Ferguson sites like friends of Ferguson Heritage at www.fofh.u-net.com

hope that helps some let me know if I can assist you more. PS at the club site below go to links at the site and there are 23 ag links
